Official April 2015 Endorsements

The College Democrats at San Francisco State University, sitting as a complete chapter, have voted to endorse the following candidates at the April 13, 2015 Endorsements and Officers Elections meeting:

We’re with the Mayor, Supervisor Christensen, Vicki Hennessy, DA Gascón, Attorney Herrera, Jose Cisneros, and State AG Kamala Harris in her campaign for Senate! The College Dems stand with experienced leadership and will work to ensure that this city continues to be led by distinguished public service.

Ed Lee’s for Me! San Francisco is changing fast and we need a Mayor who is not only level-headed and collaborativ, but also tremendously experienced when it comes to the perennial, and now quintessentially San Francisco issue, affordability. As a former tenants’ rights attorney, with his current championing of affordable housing construction, efforts to rein in abuses of the Ellis Act, and even coming to the table with our club and SF State to negotiate with BART for transit passes for students, Ed Lee is the only we trust to lead and serve our city.

We’re with Julie! The residents of District 3 deserve a champion who will fight to ensure a high quality of life in the Chinatown, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, North Beach, Fisherman’s Wharf, Polk Street, the Financial District and Union Square neighborhoods of San Francisco’s District 3 and they have it in Julie Christensen. We endorse her election to the Supervisor seat to which she was appointed because her work to get a new North Beach Library, a safer Polk Street, a preserved Coit Tower, and her transit advocacy especially with the T Third Line extension have shown her to be a public servant worth having on the Board of Supervisors.

Hennessy! Now we have the chance to elect a Sheriff we can trust to the right thing for our City and County. San Franciscans deserve a tough law enforcer like Vicki Hennessy who is known for her mettle, integrity, and dedication. While more women in public office and in leadership positions is admirable, we stand with Hennessy in her bid for Sheriff because her record is not only impressive but unrivaled. She modernized the Sheriff’s Department and revamped the Department of Emergency Management and she will undoubtedly bring back respect and dignity to the Sheriff’s Office.
