The Executive Board is a mix of both elected and appointed officials charged with the duty of running and representing the club.
The President of the College Democrats at San Francisco State University is responsible for ensuring the general welfare of the chapter, as well as calling and chairing General Meetings, Executive Board (E-Board) Meetings, and chapter events. The President also is vital in communications with both local, state, and national elected officials and organizations. The President also strives to build and expand the status and reputation of the chapter throughout the community, region, state, and nation. The President also oversees the planning of events, fundraisers, and events the chapter hosts and delegates duties as necessary.

The Vice President of Membership of the College Democrats at San Francisco State University serves as the primary organizer and leader of all events associated with the chapter. The Vice President of Membership holds the duty of taking meeting minutes of the meeting. The Vice President of Membership plans and supervises the creation of all events held with the use of members such as but not limited too: tabling, canvassing, registering voters, and chapter fundraisers or events. The Vice President of Membership works closely to both the Executive Board and General Members in order to create and foster a cohesive chapter that works together to represent the Mission of College Democrats at San Francisco State University.

The Vice President of Finance of the College Democrats at San Francisco State University holds the express and exclusive fiduciary responsibility of managing all chapter expenditures and ensures compliance with local and federal financial regulations. The Vice President of Finance also is responsible for crafting a balanced semesterly budget with available club funds in conjunction with the goals of the rest of the Executive Board. Such goals may include: transportation to the annual California State Democratic Convention, campaign invasions across California, and social events; allotting funds to host a fundraiser; tracking expenditures and petty purchases.

The Political Director of the College Democrats at San Francisco State University is responsible for building up the chapter’s political mettle and reputation in the San Francisco community as well as maintaining the chapter’s prominence on a statewide level. The Political Director also acts as a liaison between the membership and job opportunities that may be available to them, such as but not limited to: internships, volunteer work, job and career opportunities, and educational opportunities. Besides this, the Political Director serves as the face of the chapter to many elected officials, candidates, campaigns, and donors and as a result of this holds more sway in the direction of the chapter around election seasons. The Political Director also runs the chapter’s prestigious and contentious Official Endorsement process.

The Communications Director of the College Democrats at San Francisco State University is responsible for all internal and external communications relating to the chapter. The Communications Director is also responsible for maintaining the chapter’s branding efforts and as a result of this express duty, the Communications Director is also the Graphic Designer, Social Media Coordinator, Promotional Material Purchaser, Publicist, and Spokesperson for the chapter.

The Executive Director of the College Democrats at San Francisco State University is primarily an advisor to the Executive Board and assists in guidance of all positions and their tasks and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the chapter, meetings, and events. Formerly the President Emeritus, the Executive Director is not an elected position, and is given to the exiting president once their term has expired. Presidents who resign are not eligible for such status. Because of this, their experience as a former president is greatly appreciated and taken as a guide by both the Executive Board and the General Membership. The Executive Director is often given tasks by the Board pertaining to specific projects and their management and planning.

The Staff Advisor of the College Democrats at San Francisco State University is primarily a resource to the Executive Board and provides guidance in all tasks and operations both on campus and beyond. The Staff Advisor often assists the Board indirectly and is not a direct voting member of the Board or club, but rather serves as the connection between the University and the organization. Additional duties extend to event coordination and liaising with other Democratic or nonpartisan organizations with which the College Democrats wish to do business. The Staff Advisor is not an elected position and is indefinitely held by SFSU College Democrat alumnus Jared Giarusso.
